Friends of the Chatfield Public Library Meeting Minutes
June 15th, 2006, 7:30 p.m.
Attending: Denise, Mimi, Marj, Robin, and Janice
Previous Minutes were read and approved.
Treasurer’s Report:
Checking: $520.78 Savings: $2578.78
Old Business:
$300 was paid towards the Summer Reading Program Kickoff. Another $100 will be due for the Teen Programs for a $75 Apache Mall Gift Certificate and $25 for supplies.
Website Updates: Much new information about the Teen programs has been added to the Library’s Website. Monica and Margaret Viss have been very busy working on the site.
Book Reviews are always needed as well.
Summer Reading Program Kickoff was attended by about 50 people. Many other activites were going on that night including a Brass Band Concert, T-ball programs and others that may have influenced how many attended the Library programs.
Thanks to Janice and Mimi and Darrell and Roman for watering the Hanging baskets around town.
Garden Tour Update: We are too late for a tour for this year. Sandy Gathje from Hillside Nursery is willing to help us find gardeners and help with promoting this event for next year. We should start planning early in the year [at our January or February meeting] and have gardener sign-up sheets available by April. Suggestions were made to have our Groen Tea party in conjunction with the Garden tour. Mid to late June was mentioned as the ideal time for the tour. Sandy also mentioned that she wants to start a Garden Club. Perhaps we could have a Gardening Night for one of our Spring meetings to help promote the Garden Club.
New Business:
Mimi donated an Onyx chess set to the Library.
Used Book Sale: Hauling and Sorting of books is needed for the upcoming Western Days Book Sale. Our next meeting will be used for preparing for the Book Sale. Motion made and carried to meet at 6 p.m. to accomplish these tasks. End time of 7:30 so we can attend the Brass Band Concert.
